The scale of a map
- Maps show an area of land.
- Natural and man-made features are scaled down (reduced) to fit on the map.
- Not all maps have the same scale. Depending on the scale we have two types of scale maps:
1. Large- scale maps show more details and features are bigger. For example, 1 cm = 100m.
2. Small-scale maps show less details and features are smaller. For example, 1 cm = 500m.
