Some, any, lots of.
We use "lots of" and "some"  with there were (affirmative plural) .
We use "any" with there weren´t  (negative plural ).
 
Write questions and short answers.

    No, there weren´t.
2. Were there any colourful birds ?
     Yes, there were.
3. Were there lots of picnic tables ?
     Yes, there were
4. Was there a bridge ?
     Yes , there was
5. Was  there a big waterfall ?

    No, there wasn´t.
